Antique Chinese sterling pendant or medallion figural Jade Chalcedony bead necklace Qing Dynasty

Sterling pendants dating to the last quarter of 19 century,
the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty,
these beautiful Sterling Foo Dog single sided medallion pieces have been combined with beautiful 12 mm beads and 14 X 20 mm oval dangle beads featuring a hand faceted band.
I was able to purchase a quantity of these beautiful sterling pieces from a dealer in NYC at the international vintage jewelry show.
Using Vintage beads and components appropriate to the period, I have created this beautiful statement necklace.

The handmade sterling necklace depicts a boy riding a dragon like a horse.
Notice the beautiful chased texture of the dragon body and other elements of this pendant.
The figure is carrying important charms & bells indicating offered blessings.
The center piece is repousse' with chased details on either side.

These exquisite handmade artisan necklaces
were often presented to the recipient to attain wealth & longevity.

Chinese Folklore professes that whomever wears the artisan necklace will receive these blessings.

The boys posture & facial expression indicates joy with his many gifts and cheerful rattling bells
that accompany him on this important journey.

The collection of dangling beads and the 3 dimensional figural
make a soft rattling sound draped around the neck.

The extraordinary necklaces makes a beautiful heirloom accessory. Infused with symbolism
& history this is the perfect necklace for a gift or to make a statement.

Measuring 32 inches this necklace is the perfect length it has a silver toggle for ease of putting on.
It does have a Sterling filled toggle clasp as a decorative accent.
The Dragon figural is 3 inches wide, 2.5 inches tall and length of the dangles is 1 inches long.

This necklace is part of my Diamonds and Rust collection.
I have combined these wonderful Antique Chinese repousse' pieces with vintage and contemporary beads.
Stunning color combination, Jade colored chalcedony is so gorgeous!
