Early Mazer Butterfly 3 Scatter Pin Set with Earrings, Rhinestone

MAZER Gold Filled rhinestone earrings featuring pave rhinestone wings, and ruby eyes. Pins are 1 inch by .75 inch wide, earrings are 7/8 by 5/8 inch wide. My research indicates that this design was made in the 1930's. I can't find a the patent number on the earring clip, but they are signed MAZER and this style clip dates to the 1930's. Heavy Vermeil finish, very good vintage condition on the face, the back has a few tiny scratches consistent with wear and shown in the photos, please look carefully at photos. The Earrings have been worn and loved as you can see the wear in the photos, great wearable condition, only wear to the clips. These look like the Sterling with Gold Vermeil pins and earrings Mazer and Boucher created, but I cannot find it signed sterling anywhere. Pins are signed MAZER with another M and a numeral, I think is a 3. I believe these are all original stones. All stones are present and bright. This is a most unusual set. These would be a fabulous embellishment for your Mask as they are lightweight and have the lovely small matching earrings.


A little bit about MAZER

Mazer Brothers was founded by Joseph Mazer and his brother Louis in 1926 in New York. One of Mazer Bros. best known designers was the talented Marcel Boucher who left to open his own company in the mid 1930s. In 1946 Joseph Mazer left Mazer Bros. to form Joseph J. Mazer and Co., better known as JOMAZ, while Louis Mazer stayed with Mazer Bros. until 1951, the year of his last jewelry collection.

Mazer Bros. was known for its innovative stance, exploring new design and production methods and continually experimenting with different techniques for creating metal alloys or for use in the refinishing processes. The stones used in their jewelry were frequently made to order by Swarovski.

The early 1950s jewelry was designed by Andre Fleuridas, and Adolfo designed some of the 1970s pieces for the company.

The company went out of business in the late 1970s. MAZER manufactured a very high quality jewelry which sold at middle price range and is highy collectible.

Earlier jewelry is marked MAZER BROS. while later pieces are marked MAZER or JOMAZ.
